This guide is a brief introduction of how to buy items in Diablo 3 in hope it can be of help to players.
There is really no limit to the number of options, items and material available inside the Auction House, so no matter what you’re looking for, you shouldn’t have trouble finding it here. When you are in the mood to buy an item, whether it be via gold or cash, select the “Search” tab in the upper-left corner of the screen, then choose the category of item you wish to search for. Scroll through the list of items until you find the item you wish to bid on. There are usually a large amount of auctions taking place every day, so check back often if you do not see what you’re going after. If there are just too many auctions going on, it is possible to adjust the parameters of your search on the left-hand menu, in order to specify exactly what you’re looking for, including the class type, rarity, preferred stats,
level range and item type.
Click on the item that draws you interest, and then select “Place a Bid.” From here, you can either select how much you wish to bid on the item, or choose “But It Now,” if you want to buy the item for the designated listed price. If the item is popular (with a large number of bids listed), it might be best for you to simply buy the item outright.
If you are inside the cash auction house, you must select a payment method after selecting your bid amount or buy option. Generally, this is done through the credit or debit cards, although you are also able to include your PayPal account information, should this fit your needs better.
At the conclusion of the auction, if you win the item, the required amount of gold is deducted from your account, or your payment option is directly billed from your credit, debit or PayPal account. The item is now yours, although before activating it into you inventory, you must first send it to your stash for in-game use. To do this, select the “Completed” tab, click the newly purchased item and choose “Send to Stash.” You are only able to hold a few items inside the Completed section, so after every auction, make sure to send the material to your stash and clear it out. You don’t want to win the auction, only to find you have no room inside the Completed tab and have to turn the material away. After spending several days waiting on the auction, this is not of good practice and becomes incredibly frustrating when you loose the item you spend so much time monitoring and bidding on throughout the past several days.
